About The Position

Supervises the activities of the Security Officers throughout the Enterprise properties. Monitors general activities throughout the Enterprise properties, Reservation and special events. Is responsible for scheduling, resolving routine complaints, preparing and administering approved disciplinary action, coaching, counseling and overseeing training of Security Officers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
  • Possess a valid Guard Card, Exposed Firearms Permit, Baton Permit, and Chemical Agent Permit. (Will require proof of application and payment of fees if Guard Card and Exposed Firearms Permit not in immediate possession.)
  • Possess certification in First Aid, CPR, or AED (or obtains with 90 days of being hired).
  • Must pass the Security Department’s assessment test.
  • California Responsible Beverage Service Training required upon hire.
  • Must be age 21 years of age or older.
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally in the English language, including the ability to write reports that can be understood by the CEO, COO, General Manager, Tribal Council, legal staff, court officers, and law enforcement.
  • Must have a high degree of common sense.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to type 30 wpm (a skills test is required).
  • Good leadership skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills, such as the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to think quickly in an emergency.
  • Ability to deescalate high stress situations.
  • Ability to resolve problems as they arise and handle situations without supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Must be a self-starter and able to adjust to change.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours during the day or evening including weekends, holidays, and all blackout dates.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in criminal justice or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • 2 to 3 or more years of military service, security, and/or law enforcement experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the daily activities of Security Officers throughout the Enterprise and Tribal properties in the respective areas, to include coordinating and assigning work schedules; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and solving problems.
  • Reviews and prepares attendance documentation as required.
  • Reviews incident reports to ensure all pertinent information is included and accurate. Reports actions taken in response to incidents and complaints of patrons or team members to the Security Lieutenant.
  • Works with supervisors in other departments to coordinate security requirements as needed and maintains a professional working relationship.
  • Makes recommendations to management for improvements in department operations.
  • Ensures all department mandated training is completed in a timely manner.
  • Coaches and counsels Team Members to resolve problems and ensure compliance with Enterprise Policies and Procedures and documents these sessions as required.
  • Performs the duties of a Corporal, Patrol Officer, or Security Officers to include patrolling of Viejas properties, reservations and special events as needed.
  • Responds to emergency alarms associated with fire, presence of unauthorized persons, and/or critical incidences. Calls the Communication Center, notifies proper authorities, secures, and controls all tribal assets, and permits authorized persons to enter property.
  • Performs First Aid, CPR and AED as needed, if trained.
  • Ensures that a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment is maintained.
  • Adheres to all company and department policies, procedures, and standard operating guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Is responsible for the daily direction, coordination, and evaluation of subordinates as assigned. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
