About The Position

The Security Sergeant oversees the effective delivery of security services at the assigned job site. They supervise personnel and manage all aspects of daily operations; ensure all functions are performed in compliance with the contract’s scope of work, DUS/Client policies, post orders, and all applicable laws, regulations and operational procedures. This is a rotational position working a two week on / two week off schedule.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Min 21 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Three (3) years of combined experience as an officer (or above) with a municipal, state or federal law enforcement agency, military police unit, corrections or private security company AND two (2) years of experience in a supervisory position.
  • Two (2) years of TAPS Security experience within the last five (5) years.
  • Good computer skills with Microsoft Office and other software applications
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Armed Security Guard License (State of Alaska) or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Emergency Trauma Technician (ETT) certification or ability to obtain (candidates are responsible for obtaining initial ETT on their own time and expense).
  • Must be able to pass the Company’s pre-employment screening process, including drug screen, criminal background investigation and post-offer physical/functional capacity evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform searches of people, vehicles, vessels, buildings, and large outdoor areas
  • Perform all assigned duties in compliance with DUS and client policies, procedures, post orders, and work rules while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Coordinate and oversee security and basic emergency medical services at the assigned job site, ensuring effective protection of personnel, property, facilities, and materials.
  • Supervise assigned personnel, including scheduling staff, managing coverage needs, providing on-the-job training, enforcing performance standards, and maintaining a respectful and collaborative workplace.
  • Respond to routine and escalated security or emergency situations using established protocols, including patrols, investigations, searches, arrests, use of firearms, fire suppression, emergency medical aid, and evacuations.
  • Maintain regular communication with client representatives, internal stakeholders, and federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to support site operations and emergency response.
  • Complete administrative and operational tasks such as report writing, incident documentation, recordkeeping, timekeeping/payroll submissions, data entry, and verification of information.
  • Ensure assigned equipment, vehicles, uniforms, weapons, and gear are properly worn, maintained, and accounted for, and maintain required licenses, certifications, training, and fitness-for-duty standards.
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle, work varied schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours, remain alert at all times, and perform other duties as assigned based on business and client needs.
