About The Position

To look after the security, safety and well-being of all guests and colleagues making sure they cause no harm to themselves and others due to unsafe conditions or unsafe acts. Primarily responsible for ensuring the safety of guests, employees, property and hotel assets. Initiate and follow-up all investigations of crimes committed against property and persons. Assist sick and injured guests and employees, ensuring documentation and disposition of reports. Initiate investigations, write incident and accident reports, monitor investigations to their timely conclusion and ensure appropriate follow-up with guests, visitors and employees, documenting all contacts. Assist supervisor in checking alarm systems, safety and fire equipment systems and closely monitoring security of building doors, service areas and delivery areas. Be well versed in hotel fire & life safety/emergency procedures. Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times. Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service. Patrol Hotel grounds. Be alert for fire hazards, unsafe work practices and unsafe conditions and take appropriate action in addressing. Be able to act according to all Emergency Response Plans. Perform Safe and Lock Out assist. Maintain good public relations with guests. Report for duty shift starting time. Be present at all daily briefings and de-briefings. Know the position and name of every Security and Safety Officer on shift. Maintain follow up action to ensure adherence to schedules and work standards. Be alert for any unusual occurrences and take appropriate action. Make detailed and accurate reports of all occurrences/incidents during your shift. Fill in all incident/accident/end of shift reports without fail after every shift. Attend to all other relevant paperwork as needed. When reporting for or finishing duty, Security and Safety Officers will notify the Security and Safety Supervisor/Director. Security and Safety Officers will not discuss/ divulge department details/ information to any other colleagues/outsider/ media failing which defaulter’s services will be subject to Progressive Corrective Action up to and including dismissal. Security and Safety Officers will be required to use common sense and make judicious decisions. The basic aim being to diffuse the situation as quickly as possible. They will be polite, diplomatic and professional in handling situations, yet firm in upholding the Fairmont’s policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Dispatch Responsibilities: Monitors Fire Panel and dispatches Emergency Response team when activated. Receives emergency and non emergency calls for service from employees and guest with respect to safety, security and hotel operations. Determines appropriate response in accordance with established procedures and assessment of the situation. Dispatches Security and Safety Officers in response to calls for service. Maintains accurate records including, but not limited to, camera monitoring, shift activity log, software programs, etc. Record all calls and radio messages in MS Shift and on dispatch log. Control and document the issuance of keys and radios. Control entry and exit of the resort service entrance gates. Monitors the CCTV cameras. Logging in and out Visitors of the property. Receives calls for Lost and found and records them in MS Shift. Receives calls and complaints regarding service and assistance and refers them to the appropriate department. Pass-on all information to oncoming Dispatch Officer. Monitors status of weather, public safety, Civil Defense & HPD Alerts. Requests back-up or follow-up assistance from the Hawaii County Police Department, Hawaii County Fire Department, and other agencies as necessary. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be of the age that meets the legal drinking of alcohol and in good physical condition.
  • High School education, Hospitality Security and Law course preferred or minimum three years in security in the hospitality industry.
  • Previous experience in security role required.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft window applications required.
  • State of Hawai’i Guard Employee License.
  • Possess a professional presentation.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly responsible and reliable.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.
  • Fire safety & First Aid certification.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Analytical skills, strength as a developer and a leader of others are essential.
  • Certification in CPR First Aid Required.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft window applications required.
  • Meet the minimum security license requirements for Hawaii.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining U.S. work authorization.
