About The Position

The House of Commons Administration is seeking a Security Project Officer (SPO) for a 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension. The SPO will manage and coordinate security operations for various programs and internal security projects within the Corporate Security Office (CSO), from planning through to close-out, adhering to House Administration project management practices. This role supports the Corporate Security Office by coordinating operations to assist the Security Project Manager (SPM) with daily project management, design, security operations, data analysis, security screenings, and the development of policy and operational maintenance plans.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of post-secondary education with a focus on engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, telecommunications engineering, computer science, physics, or optical systems.
  • Experience in project coordination.
  • Experience in coordinating multiple and conflicting requirements and priorities, and working with subject matter experts in the fields of architecture, engineering, security, construction and procurement.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.
  • Experience managing client requests, asking the right questions to clarify needs, making recommendations, and communicating requirements and expectations clearly.
  • Ability to work at heights (formal training will be provided).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work on a construction site.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces.
  • Ability to work on a ladder.
  • Ability to perform physical work and carry items up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Bilingual (English and French) proficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other relevant fields.
  • Knowledge of Nondestructive testing including Thermography, X-Ray, Ultrasound testing.
  • Knowledge of Wireless communications, signal processing, telecommunications, and backend development.
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and coordinating security operations for the program, and other internal security projects for the Corporate Security Office (CSO), from planning, to close-out.
  • Coordinating operations to assist the Security Project Manager (SPM) with day-to-day project management, design, security operations, data analysis, security screenings, and development of policy and operational maintenance plans.
  • Leveraging advanced analysis techniques to produce action items.
  • Performing site inspections and gathering relevant data.
  • Designing and testing for hardware/software projects.
