The Security Platform Engineer is a hybrid role responsible for providing managed application support for Proofpoint email security platforms (PPS, TAP, TRAP/CTR) while also supporting the AWS infrastructure hosting these services. The engineer serves as the AWS Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the Managed Threat Protection Services (MTPS) team and partners closely with Professional Services and internal infrastructure teams during deployment and steady-state operations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in security engineering, managed services, or enterprise technical support
  • Hands‑on experience supporting Proofpoint email security platforms in production environments
  • Operational experience supporting AWS‑based infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls)
  • Experience supporting Linux and Windows systems
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • AWS certification (Solutions Architect – Associate, SysOps Administrator, or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting SaaS or managed security services in AWS
  • Scripting or automation experience (Python or Bash)
  • Industry certifications such as Security+, Network+, or CISSP

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational support for Proofpoint email security platforms including PPS, TAP, and TRAP/CTR
  • Monitor platform health, alerts, and service performance
  • Troubleshoot application and configuration issues
  • Implement customer requests such as policy updates, routing changes, and feature enablement
  • Act as an escalation point for complex customer and platform issues
  • Participate in on‑call rotation and incident response
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Professional Services during customer onboarding and transitions to steady‑state support
  • Serve as the primary AWS Subject Matter Expert for the MTPS team
  • Support and troubleshoot AWS infrastructure hosting Proofpoint services, including: EC2 instances and Auto Scaling VPCs, subnets, routing, and security groups Application and Network Load Balancers S3 and EBS storage IAM roles, policies, and permissions CloudWatch metrics, logs, and alarms
  • Perform initial triage of AWS‑related incidents and coordinate escalation to internal infrastructure teams when required
  • Validate infrastructure health during and after deployments led by Professional Services
  • Support approved infrastructure changes following established change management processes
  • Create and maintain AWS operational documentation and runbooks for MTPS
  • Identify reliability, monitoring, and security gaps and recommend improvements
