About The Position

The Security Patrol responds to fire and security alarms and other calls for assistance in all Loudoun County Public Schools buildings. This role involves patrolling the interior and exterior of school buildings and grounds, reporting vandalism and trespassers, and performing regular tests on security alarms. The Security Patrol also instructs and assists school staff with arming and disarming alarms, performs building fire watch as needed, and works with law enforcement as required. This position is part-time, non-benefited, and hourly, with no guarantee of minimum hours. Employees in this role are considered essential personnel and may be required to report for work during delay or emergency situations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Relates well with public and school staff
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates organizational skills

  • Current or prior security and/or law enforcement experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Patrols LCPS owned facilities to detect and deter criminal and/or unsafe activities, including checking exterior and interior.
  • Responds to alarms at LCPS facilities, including setting/resetting security alarms and assisting the fire department in determining the cause of false fire alarms.
  • Assists school personnel with securing buildings and setting alarms as needed.
  • Reports criminal and/or unsafe activities to the appropriate entity as well as the Safety and Security Department.
  • Reports criminal/suspicious/unsafe activities that require immediate response via radio to the LCPS Security Operations Center (SOC).
  • Liaises with responding public safety personnel in the event of an alarm or incident.
  • Performs “fire watch” in the event of fire alarm malfunction at a school.
