About The Position

The Security Operations Supervisor oversees and supervises the daily operations of the Security Division. This role provides oversight of shift supervisors and Behavioral Specialists, involving interaction and coordination with clinical leadership in all areas where Behavioral Specialists are assigned. The supervisor is responsible for scheduling Security Supervisors and Behavioral Specialists, tracking data related to daily reports for Environment of Care, operations, and key performance indicators for the Division. A critical aspect of the role is to immediately address, mitigate, and resolve any ongoing risks that impact patient/staff safety. The Security Division, under this role's oversight, provides security services to the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System, its hospitals, and outpatient clinics by courteously assisting staff, visitors, and patients while enforcing rules and regulations to promote a safe healthcare environment for an assigned shift.

Requirements

  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License and acceptable driving record that reflects safe and lawful motor vehicle operation
  • Minimum of five (5) years of security, management or law enforcement work experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Seven (7) years of security, public safety or law enforcement work experience
  • Two (2) years of crime prevention, community services, and/or instructor work experience and experience developing and managing crime prevention and community functions
  • Previous supervisory work experience
  • Associates Degree in Criminal Justice or related field or completion of a Police Academy Program

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and supervise the daily operations of the Security Division
  • Provide oversight of shift supervisors and Behavioral Specialists
  • Interact and coordinate with clinical leadership in all areas that Behavioral Specialist are assigned
  • Oversee scheduling for Security Supervisors and Behavioral Specialists
  • Track data related to daily reports for Environment of Care, operations and key performance indicators for the Division
  • Immediately address, mitigate and resolve any ongoing risks that impact patient/staff safety
  • Oversee and direct the daily operations of assigned security shift
  • De-escalate agitated patients, both individually and as a member of a team
  • Prevent potentially risky and/or violent situations
  • Supervise the entire operation of the security staff on one of the shifts
