About The Position

Goodfire is seeking a Security Operations Lead, their first security hire, to manage IT and physical security. The role involves protecting the company against sophisticated and evolving threats in the high-stakes field of AI development. The ideal candidate will secure Goodfire's people and systems without hindering the research and engineering teams. This is a foundational, hands-on position requiring someone to run all of corporate security, perform essential tasks, and understand the changing threat landscape. The role involves defining security for an AI research lab in collaboration with research, engineering, and operations teams.

Requirements

5+ years in IT security or security engineering.
Hands-on ownership of identity, endpoints, and corporate systems.
Experience running SOC 2 audits and enterprise customer security reviews.
Strong grasp of AI security, particularly how AI agents change the threat model.
Willingness and humility to own anything security-related yourself, big or small.

Nice To Haves

Physical security experience, including access control systems and facility security.
Experience at an early-stage startup or building a security program from scratch.
Experience at an AI lab or with ML research environments.
Familiarity with securing cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

Manage identity and access, including MFA, SSO, account lifecycle, and device trust.
Oversee endpoints, including device management, EDR, hardening, and patching.
Secure AI agents and untrusted code to limit their access from laptops, accounts, and the cloud.
Ensure compliance and customer trust through SOC 2, vendor reviews, and customer security questionnaires.
Handle incident response.
Manage physical security and the network for the San Francisco office.
