About The Position

The Security Operations Intern will assist the Director of Security Operations with day-to-day security operations and project-based work that supports the safety and security of The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. This intern will contribute to operational improvements, documentation updates, and event and school group procedures while gaining exposure to security operations in a large, public-facing organization.

Requirements

  • Sophomore, junior, or senior at the college level, majoring in Security, Law Enforcement, Homeland Security/Public Safety (preferred)
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Basic computer and software skills.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, and move throughout the Museum campus for extended periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to read and update signage and written documentation, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, visitors, and external partners, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to use standard office and computer equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Update Policies and Procedures within the Security Department
  • Fire Extinguisher audit and relocation
  • Assist with reviewing and updating Security Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Support the Safety Warden Program.
  • Assist with school group arrival and departure procedures.
  • Support security operations related to Museum events as needed.
