About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a Security Officer - Branch Flex to serve and safeguard clients across industries including healthcare, education, and finance. Flex Officers use a shift-pickup platform to view and claim open shifts according to their availability, providing opportunities to build a flexible schedule and gain experience at multiple sites. The role may involve irregular shifts with little or no advance notice. The listed pay rate is $23.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or five years of verifiable experience.
• At least two years of security-related experience.
• Guard card required; licensing requirements may apply before employment according to state or local laws and regulations.
• Valid driver’s license if driving a company- or customer-owned vehicle.
• Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable laws.
• Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• At least 18 years of age, or older if required by the state; 21 years of age if armed.
• Reliability and ability to adapt to different post assignments.
• Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
• Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write clearly, informatively, and accurately.
• Active listening and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to assess and evaluate situations and identify critical issues quickly and accurately.
• Ability to mediate conflict with tact and diplomacy.
• Teamwork and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to speak, read, and write in multiple languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Arabic.
• Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in a vehicle.
• Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
• Sound alarms or call the police or fire department in the event of a fire or unauthorized persons.
• Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
• Permit authorized persons to enter the property and monitor entrances and exits.
• Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure authorized property removal complies with client requirements.
• Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required by the post.
• Aid customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
• Make emergency notifications as necessary according to site Post Orders.
