About The Position

The Unarmed Security Officer plays a critical role in protecting the life and property of all individuals on Hillcrest Medical Center premises. This position conducts patrols of hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and other security risks. Responsibilities include securing, unlocking, and safeguarding hospital facilities and responding to the security needs of hospital personnel, patients, and visitors. This position is designated as safety sensitive.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.
  • Maintains current BLS and obtains certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Maintains OC/Pepper Spray certification.
  • Complete all required training, testing and background checks mandated by Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) or other entities related to the issuance of the Armed Security Officer license; this certification mut be obtained within 180 days of hire.
  • Must be able to maintain a safe environment by being physically able to kneel while attending mandatory training classes or chase suspects by foot (as needed), take control of combative suspects (as necessary), and place suspects in custody if the need arises until local authorities are notified and respond to make the arrest.
  • Skill in oral communications, especially listening and recalling information during high-stress conditions.
  • Knowledge of verbal and non-verbal tactics to safely de-escalate emotionally charged individuals.
  • Ability to use non-violent crisis intervention techniques, trained defense tactics, restraint tactics, and a working knowledge sufficient to assist outside law enforcement or fire personnel as needed.
  • Knowledge of and skill with computer systems, including spreadsheets, word processing, email, computer-aided dispatch, alarm systems, access control databases, and surveillance cameras.
  • Knowledge of radio equipment for communications.
