About The Position

Saint Joseph Hospital, a 433-bed hospital founded in 1877, is seeking a Security Officer to ensure the safety and security of employees, patients, and visitors. The role involves monitoring buildings and grounds through patrols, guarding access points, operating surveillance cameras, testing security technology, and protecting individuals from violence. The ideal candidate will be able to remain calm, act decisively based on the situation, understand position limitations, and respond promptly to emergency codes. Previous experience in security/patrol within a healthcare setting is preferred. Responsibilities include patrolling the facility and grounds by foot and vehicle, regulating parking, assisting employees and visitors, providing escorts, and offering security coverage in the Emergency Department.

Requirements

High School GED or three (3) years’ experience as a security officer, upon hire
High School Graduate or three (3) years’ experience as a security officer, upon hire
Six (6) months experience as security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service; or one (1) year experience as a security officer.
Driver's License: KY, upon hire
Basic Life Support - CPR, within 30 Days

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in security/patrol in a healthcare setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

Monitor buildings and grounds on the property to ensure the safety and security of employees, patients, and other visitors.
Monitor the property by walking and driving around the premises.
Guard facility and unit access points.
Monitor surveillance cameras.
Test new security technology.
Protect all employees/visitors against acts of violence should they arise.
Respond to emergency codes in a timely manner.
Patrol on foot and by vehicle the facility and grounds.
Patrol on foot and by vehicle all perimeter buildings and posts.
Regulate parking by employees and visitors.
Give directions and assist with minor vehicle problems.
Provide escorts for employees.
Provide security coverage in the Emergency Department.
