Our dedicated team of exercise specialists, certified instructors and trainers support the needs of our community. We have a wide variety of positions within our 54,000 square foot facility. This position works closely with all areas within the facility to serve the needs of our members. Teamwork, critical thinking and compassionate service are important as we deliver high quality programs and services for the members, patients and guests. A Security Officer who excels in this role: Observes and reports activities and incidents for all Haywood Regional Medical Center properties. Providing for the security and safety property and personnel at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Makes periodic tours and documents checking for irregularities, perform fire watch when required. Preserves order and may act to enforce regulations and directives pertaining to personnel, patients, visitors, and premises. Frequent valuables collection & returns of patient’s person property. This is a high liability process. Receiving, releasing, assisting employees, EMS and Medical Examiners with deceased bodies. Being utilized as a sitter during shift as needed and determined by the on-duty Nursing Supervisor and or Administrator on call. Sitters applies to all patient care areas within Haywood Regional Hospital and aims to detect and ultimately ensure patient safety for those who are identified as at risk for suicide or self-harm. Providing relief for the Telecommunicators to include breaks and meal breaks Monitoring ED Lobby from the Security Desk, monitoring Main Lobby from the Volunteer Desk

Requirements

  • Much walking is required during normal duty shift. Position requires mobility, bending, occasional lifting (5-50lbs), stooping, standing and sitting. Seeing, hearing, speaking and writing clearly in order to communicate with employees and clients, as well as to ability to observe and report incidents. Potential for exposure to inclement weather, unpleasant odors or sights. Must be physically fit and alert. Eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity is required. Moderate to high stress level.
  • May require physical exertion during stressful encounters with challenging individuals. May have to restrain individuals or deal with resistance on a daily basis.
  • MUST be able to remain calm, continue to function effectively, and develop priorities during stressful situations.
  • MUST maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff and the public, often under conditions of urgency and in pressure situation.
  • May be exposed to stressful situations, such as challenging individuals who are in or approaching an unauthorized area.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred for Security Guard.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required for Security Guard
  • American Heart Association First Aid required for Security Guard
  • Handle With Care required for Security Guard

Responsibilities

  • Makes periodic tours and documents checking for irregularities, perform fire watch when required.
  • Preserves order and may act to enforce regulations and directives pertaining to personnel, patients, visitors, and premises.
  • Frequent valuables collection & returns of patient’s person property.
  • Receiving, releasing, assisting employees, EMS and Medical Examiners with deceased bodies.
  • Being utilized as a sitter during shift as needed and determined by the on-duty Nursing Supervisor and or Administrator on call.
  • Providing relief for the Telecommunicators to include breaks and meal breaks
  • Monitoring ED Lobby from the Security Desk, monitoring Main Lobby from the Volunteer Desk
  • Assist in light snow removal and ice melt spreading to help ensure the safety of all staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Assist in lifting or moving patients as requested.
