About The Position
Securitas is seeking professional and dependable Event Security Officers to help create safe, enjoyable experiences at concerts, festivals, sporting events, and other special events in Newport News, VA. This role involves observing and reporting activities and incidents at an assigned client site, providing for the security and safety of client property and personnel. The position requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking for long periods, potentially involving climbing stairs and navigating uneven terrain. Additional physical requirements may include frequent lifting of up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
Requirements
- 1 year of security experience, law enforcement or military experience (no exceptions).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Open availability, including weekends and events coverage.
- Reliable transportation.
- Excellent Customer Service skills.
- Pass drug screen and background check.
- Meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county, and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers/Guard.
- Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for long periods of time, and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain.
- Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities
- Observe and report activities and incidents at an assigned client site.
- Provide for the security and safety of client property and personnel.
- Cover events for the City of Newport and City of Hampton.
- Attend an unpaid 4-day training if seeking to become armed.
- Be ready to work immediately after training.
