About The Position

The Security Officer ensures the safety of the assigned area by monitoring the premises, responding to emergency situations, and documenting all on-site incidents. This role is crucial for protecting the organization's assets and maintaining a secure environment for personnel and visitors.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Proven experience as security officer or guard.
Knowledge of legal guidelines for area security and public safety.
Familiarity with report writing.
Excellent surveillance and observation skills.
Emotional control/De-escalation skills.
Integrity.
Safety Management.
De-escalation and restraint training obtained during orientation period and maintained.

Nice To Haves

2+ years within the security field preferred.

Responsibilities

Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points, and permitting entry.
Secure all exits, doors, and windows during shift patrols and at the end of shift operations.
Provide assistance to persons in need.
Apprehend and detain perpetrators according to legal protocol before the arrival of authorities.
Guard and manage patient valuables in a secured area.
Protect the organization's assets relative to theft, assault, fire, and other safety issues.
Respond to alarms and emergencies.
Follow procedures for various initiatives including fire prevention, traffic control, and accident investigations.
Escort visitors and/or employees around and off premises.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, TJC, CMS, and other regulatory agencies.
Obtain help by sounding alarms.
Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities and informing violators of policies and procedures.
Monitor and authorize the entrance of vehicles and people on the property.
Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures.
Maintain the environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls.
Ensure the operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, submitting work orders, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Meet hospital mission objectives and foster positive guest relations and courtesy between security staff, patients, visitors, and other employees.
Share opportunities to teach, motivate, and uplift others.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
