As a Security Officer - Full Time - Afternoons in Cedar Rapids, IA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As an Access Control Officer at a fast-paced logistics and distribution location, you will manage entry points, verify access credentials, monitor activity, and support a welcoming environment for employees, visitors, and drivers. You will help deter security-related incidents through a visible presence, clear communication, and timely reporting. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to clients at a logistics and distribution location by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Monitor access points, verify credentials and/or authorization for employees, visitors, contractors, and delivery personnel, and maintain required entry and exit records.
  • Help to deter unauthorized access and potential loss by observing activity at assigned entrances, gates, and restricted areas; report unusual activity according to site procedures.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate personnel and documenting events as required.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of the facility, loading areas, parking areas, and perimeter; working environments and conditions may vary by client site.
