About The Position

The Security Officer is responsible for providing comprehensive security services to ensure the safety and security of hospital premises, staff, patients, and visitors. The officer will be vigilant in preventing fire, theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access while maintaining a professional and approachable demeanor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED certificate
  • Current BLS training certification
  • Valid New York State Security Guard 8-hour pre-assignment training course certification
  • Valid New York State Security Guard 16-hour on-the-job training course certification
  • Valid state ID card
  • Current, valid Driver's License
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to produce a DMV abstract
  • Valid F-01 Fireguard license
  • Minimum of one year of prior experience working as a security guard in a healthcare environment

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine patrols of hospital buildings, facilities, and grounds to detect and deter potential security threats.
  • Utilize surveillance equipment to monitor areas for suspicious activities and respond proactively to any security concerns.
  • Actively prevent theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access by maintaining a visible and active presence in key areas of the hospital.
  • Remain alert to any unusual activities and take immediate action to address potential security breaches.
  • Monitor the conduct of visitors on hospital premises and ensure they adhere to hospital policies and regulations.
  • Politely and professionally confront unauthorized individuals for questioning and take appropriate actions as necessary.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to security and safety incidents, including but not limited to medical emergencies, fire alarms, and security breaches.
  • Follow established protocols to ensure a rapid and coordinated response to emergencies.
  • Document all security-related incidents, including suspicious activities, safety hazards, security violations, and emergency responses.
  • Prepare accurate and detailed incident reports and submit them to the appropriate authorities as required.
  • Work closely with hospital staff, law enforcement, and emergency services personnel to coordinate and enhance security efforts.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and provide support during critical situations.
  • Monitor access points, check identification, and ensure only authorized personnel and visitors enter restricted areas.
  • Enforce access control measures to maintain the integrity of secure zones.
  • Identify and report potential safety hazards, fire risks, or breaches of safety protocols promptly to the designated authorities.
  • Participate in fire drills and evacuation exercises to enhance preparedness.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in all security-related matters.
  • Uphold the hospital's code of conduct and adhere to all security policies and procedures.
