About The Position

The Security Officer reports to the Guest Services Manager and is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests, staff, and property. This role involves patrolling the premises, managing access control, responding to emergencies, and enforcing hotel policies to prevent theft, disturbances, or other incidents. Strong observational skills, professionalism, and the ability to respond calmly under pressure are essential. The role will also actively develop trusting and transparent relations with fellow associates of the hotel. Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Security
  • Valid security guard license or certification (as required by local laws) or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
  • Proficiency of the English language in reading, writing and verbal communication
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods, bend, climb stairs and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work by yourself, lead yourself, make it count!
  • Ability to work varied shifts, that may include nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a hotel preferred or comparable experience at an establishment such as apartment complex or office building
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or military service (often preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Uphold and role model the company’s principles of People, Place and to ensure the experiences of translocal hospitality, intuitive service, and collaboration
  • Maintain a good working relationship with other associates by promoting teamwork and fostering a harmonious working environment
  • Conduct regular patrols of hotel buildings, parking lots, and surrounding areas.
  • Check for unusual activity, safety hazards, or unauthorized individuals
  • Monitor entry and exit points to ensure only authorized personnel and guests access restricted areas.
  • Respond promptly to alarms, disturbances, medical emergencies, or fire incidents.
  • Assist in evacuations and provide first aid or coordinate with emergency services when required.
  • Document all incidents, accidents, and suspicious activities in detailed security reports.
  • Notify hotel management and law enforcement when appropriate.
  • Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor while addressing security concerns.
  • Work with housekeeping and front desk staff to identify and address potential security risks.
  • Support other departments during events, guest complaints, or emergencies.
  • Check fire exits, extinguishers, locks, and lighting regularly.
  • Other duties as assigned
