About The Position

The Seattle Children's Research Division is looking for a Security Officer I or II. The Security Officer II is the primary responder for all safety concerns, security incidents, and service requests at facilities owned or occupied by Seattle Children's. Their role is to deter, detect, prevent, respond, and document concerns or incidents that risk the safety and well-being of patients, families, visitors, workforce members, and property by utilizing appropriate protocols, emergency response procedures, and/or non-violent crisis intervention methods. They respond to situations including fire emergencies, hazardous spills, disaster response, medical emergencies, safety support, missing child, active shooter, bomb threats, individuals under distress or escalated, and unauthorized persons on Seattle Children's property or buildings occupied by Seattle Children's workforce members with intentions to commit crimes such as vandalism, theft, and assault. The Security Officer I is the first line of safety and security at facilities staffed by the Seattle Children's Security Department. They provide a physical presence at all public entrances and lobby areas to deter, detect, prevent, respond, and document concerns or incidents that risk the safety and well-being of patients, families, visitors, workforce members, and property by utilizing appropriate protocols, emergency response procedures, and/or non-violent crisis intervention methods. They provide support for situations including fire emergencies, hazardous spills, disaster response, medical emergencies, safety support, missing child, active shooter, bomb threats, individuals under distress or escalated, and unauthorized persons entering the building with intentions to commit crimes such as vandalism, theft, and assault.

Requirements

  • Security Officer II: Associate degree in Criminal Justice or related field or a combination of 3 years' experience in Security Services or related field.
  • Security Officer II: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Security Officer II: CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification within 90 days of hire (Annual Requirement).
  • Security Officer II: Completion of NCI Autism Training within 12 months of hire.
  • Security Officer II: Completion of Seattle Children's Safe Firearms Training within 12 months of hire.
  • Security Officer II: Completion of Car Seat Safety Training within 12 months of hire if required for position/role.
  • Security Officer II: Score of 80% or above on Seattle Children's Security Competency Exam in assigned area of the Security Department within 12 months.
  • Security Officer I: High School Diploma.
  • Security Officer I: 2 years of experience in Customer Service or Security Services or customer service.
  • Security Officer I: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Security Officer I: CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification within 90 days of hire (Annual Requirement).
  • Security Officer I: Completion of NCI Autism Training within 12 months of hire.
  • Security Officer I: Completion of Seattle Children’s Safe Firearms Training within 12 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Security Officer II: Valid Washington State Driver's License with a driving record acceptable to Risk Management.
  • Security Officer II: Completion of Wheelchair vehicle Training.
  • Security Officer II: International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Certification.
  • Security Officer II: Safety Cares Certification within 90 days of hire if required for location.
  • Security Officer I: Valid Washington State Driver’s License with a driving record acceptable to Risk Management.
  • Security Officer I: International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Certification.
