About The Position

The Security Officer ensures the safety of the assigned area by monitoring the premises, responding to emergency situations, and documenting all on-site incidents. This role involves securing the property, assisting individuals, and protecting organizational assets.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Proven experience as security officer or guard.
  • Knowledge of legal guidelines for area security and public safety.
  • Familiarity with report writing.
  • Excellent surveillance and observation skills.
  • Emotional control/De-escalation skills.
  • Integrity.
  • Safety Management.
  • De-escalation and restraint training obtained during orientation period and maintained.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years within the security field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points, and permitting entry.
  • Secures all exits, doors, and windows during shift patrols and at the end of shift operations.
  • Provides assistance to persons in need.
  • Apprehends and detains perpetrators according to legal protocol before the arrival of authorities.
  • Guards and manages patient valuables in a secured area.
  • Protects organizational assets relative to theft, assault, fire, and other safety issues.
  • Responds to alarms and emergencies.
  • Follows procedures for various initiatives including fire prevention, traffic control, and accident investigations.
  • Escorts visitors and/or employees around and off premises.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA, TJC, CMS, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Obtains help by sounding alarms.
  • Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities and informing violators of policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and authorizes the entrance of vehicles and people on the property.
  • Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures.
  • Maintains the environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls.
  • Ensures operations of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, submitting work orders, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Meets hospital mission objectives and fosters positive guest relations and courtesy between security staff, patients, visitors, and other employees.
  • Shares opportunities to teach, motivate, and uplift others.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
