About The Position

As a Security Officer, you have a strong security and safety mindset, thrive on being part of a team, and enjoy working in different physical locations. You are the face and voice of Irving Oil in the Saint John area and a primary contact for all visitors, customers, and employees who access our facilities. You must be available to be scheduled in a 24/7 environment and be willing to work at different Irving Oil locations in the Saint John area. This is considered a safety sensitive position, and as such, our recruiting process involves pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, references, and a criminal background check. Requirements

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to diffuse conflict and de-escalate situations in a professional manner
  • Able to deal with difficult or unforeseen issues quickly and professionally by answering questions or transferring to appropriate parties when necessary
  • Able to remain calm; quickly and efficiently respond to any emergency situations by working with the Security Operations Center (SOC)
  • Be well versed in security protocols and procedures
  • Actively contribute towards a safe and secure culture, while engaging employees and visitors to so they have a good experience when on-site
  • Minimum High School diploma or G.E.D. required
  • Must possess a valid Canadian drivers license

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of a Criminal Justice or Police Foundations program is an asset
  • Current First Aid certification is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Welcome all visitors, employees, and customers to Irving Oil facilities by greeting them in person or on the telephone
  • Maintain a visible presence at all times, ensuring the highest standards of safety and security are met
  • Dispatch security team members, facilities personnel, and internal medical staff during any emergency incident or event
  • Enforce and govern the Facility Access Policy for all people entering our facilities
  • Be a primary point of contact for all levels of the business
  • Handle requests, feedback, and queries professionally and in a timely manner
  • Issue temporary ID passes to visitors, contractors, and employees (if required) and ensure they are returned at the end of the day or completion of work
  • Contact all appropriate emergency services and diligently report any incidents directly to the Security Operations Center
  • Prevent and discourage all unapproved or unlawful entry to the site(s) and engage other security team members when necessary
