Requirements

  • High School Graduate General Studies and Six (6) months experience as a security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, upon hire or High School GED General Studies and Six (6) months experience as a security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, upon hire
  • Prior law enforcement or military experience
  • Driver's License: AR, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in security/patrol in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • One year experience as a security officer

Responsibilities

  • Monitor buildings and grounds on the property to ensure the safety and security of employees, patients, and other visitors.
  • Monitor the property by walking and driving around the premises.
  • Guard facility and unit access points.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras.
  • Test new security technology.
  • Protect all employees/visitors against acts of violence should they arise.
  • Remain calm and take action based on the situation, known facts, and understand the position limitations.
  • Respond to emergency codes in a timely manner.
  • Patrol assigned areas, on foot or by vehicle.
  • Provide service and protection.
  • Investigate suspicious person(s) or activity.
  • Respond to crimes in progress, crimes that have occurred, disturbances, accidents, various public service calls, and other miscellaneous incidents.
  • Investigate complaints, criminal incidents, suspicious activity and accidents.
  • Prepare detailed written incident reports.
  • When assigned to dispatch, effectively monitor electronic surveillance equipment to identify any suspicious person(s) or activity and dispatch appropriate personnel to investigate.
  • Operate base radio station by dispatching appropriate personnel to emergency situations and/or requests for assistance by monitoring all radio traffic.
  • Answer multiple telephone lines in response to routine and emergency inquiries and dispatch appropriate personnel in regards to those inquiries.
  • Maintain appropriate logs of daily radio communications received from shift personnel and requests received via telephone.
  • Tabulate data from logs to produce required activity reports.
  • Provide general information and assistance to patients, visitors and employees, including safety related escorts as requested, to various campus locations.
  • Collaborate with various department personnel and external agencies to gather and exchange information.
  • Promote departmental services provided to the campus.
