Requirements

  • Minimum one year in a customer service or any related work/school environment where productivity and critical thinking is required
  • 18-hour mandatory security class, coupled with additional 16 hour security class within first three months of employment (if not already completed at time of hire)
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels, be culturally competent and demonstrate good judgment and critical thinking
  • Ability to write reports and perform basic data entry
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G. E. D.), may include specialized or vocational courses
  • NYS Security Guard License
  • NYC Fire Guard License

Nice To Haves

  • Law enforcement or hospital security experience highly desirable (3 years)
  • Current NYS Driver's License desirable

Responsibilities

  • React quickly and/or physically exert as urgent/emergent situations warrant
  • Respond to emergencies
  • Walk/run
  • Assist patients in/out of cars and wheelchairs
  • Climb stairs
  • Lift material or equipment of heavy weight (50 lbs. or more)
  • Traverse the hospital campus to perform security checks
  • Escort patients/visitors/staff
  • Assist with evacuation of patients using Emergency Management Equipment
  • Maintain satisfactory attendance record
  • Report for duty punctually
  • Adjust to changing situations and work assignments
