About The Position

The Security Professional Branch Flex Officer serves and safeguards clients across industries including healthcare, education, finance, and retail. The role provides hands-on experience across diverse work environments and opportunities to develop a security career. The officer works 30–40 hours per week on a variable schedule combining manager-assigned shifts and shifts selected through the Earn More, Claim-A-Shift program. Shifts, days, locations, and assignments change regularly, and irregular shifts may be assigned with little to no advance notice to support client needs. The position is based in Tinley Park, Illinois, and pays $29.00 per hour.

The officer performs armed security patrols and other site security duties, monitors for safety and security concerns, responds to incidents, maintains required reports and logs, controls access, and assists customers, employees, and visitors professionally. The role requires flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays, reliable transportation, travel as needed, and participation in security training. Applicants are subject to background investigation and, where permitted by law, drug screening.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as a military police officer, corrections officer, armed security-related professional, and/or certification as a law enforcement graduate.
• Availability to work varying shifts, including holidays, nights, and weekends.
• Possess an armed guard card and/or license.
• Reliable transportation.
• Availability for last-minute shift scheduling.
• Ability to travel required distances.
• At least 21 years of age for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
• Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements may apply before employment, subject to state and/or local laws and regulations.
• A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to speak, read, and write in multiple languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Arabic.
• Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in a vehicle.
• Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
• Sound alarms or call police or fire departments in the event of a fire or unauthorized persons.
• Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
• Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances and exits.
• Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure authorized property removal follows client requirements.
• Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required by the post.
• Aid customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
• Make emergency notifications as necessary pursuant to site Post Orders.
• Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
