About The Position

The Security Officer role is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all patients, visitors, and staff across the campus. This position provides a visible security presence, monitors facilities and grounds, responds to incidents, and enforces established safety and security policies and procedures. Security Officers play a critical role in deterring unauthorized activity, assisting during emergencies, and ensuring compliance with organizational standards to support the overall safety and well-being of the campus community. This position supports the closing shift. The hours for this position are from 3pm – 11:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with possible weekend shifts during special events.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications required.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time while conducting whole campus foot patrols, as well as standing by in departments or areas as requested.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a security position, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Spanish speaking skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular patrols of campus facilities and grounds to maintain a secure environment.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and restricted areas to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Respond promptly to security incidents, alarms, and emergency situations, providing and de-escalation as needed.
  • Enforce campus parking policies and assist with event parking coordination.
  • Prepare accurate and timely incident reports and maintain daily activity logs.
  • Support the Security Operations Coordinator in maintaining compliance with security protocols and standards.
  • Provide courteous assistance to patients, visitors, and staff, ensuring a positive and safe experience.
  • Maintain professional relationships with internal departments and external agencies such as law enforcement and EMS.
  • Participate in required training, including de-escalation techniques, crisis intervention, and annual continuing education.
  • Assist with crowd control and traffic management during special events or emergencies.
  • Report maintenance or safety hazards observed during patrols to the appropriate department.
  • Support investigations by gathering information and providing detailed reports of when incidents occur.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures for campus buildings, including arming security systems and verifying that all buildings are locked and secured.
