About The Position

Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is seeking a Security Officer to protect and provide a safe environment for hospitals, parking facilities, satellite facilities, employees, patients, and visitors. This role involves assisting in controlling access to the facility through patrolling buildings, grounds, and work sites, and acting as a first responder to all emergency incidents. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 year Security, Law Enforcement, Corrections or Military experience, or graduation from a Law Enforcement academy.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
  • Knowledge of LVHN Emergency codes and response protocols.
  • Ability to troubleshoot access control and alarm systems.
  • Ability to demonstrate proper use of security equipment.
  • DL - Driver's License_PA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association Within 90 Days
  • CHSO - Certified Healthcare Security Officer Basic Level - International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety Within 90 Days
  • BCCM - Basic Comprehensive Crisis Management - Business Continuity Management Institute Within 90 Days

Responsibilities

  • Mitigate threats to the safety and security of all staff, patients, visitors, and their property within the facility, as well as LVHN property.
  • Intervene when suspicious or abnormal behavior is observed or reported, and stop, question, and detain persons when reasonable suspicion exists.
  • Conduct internal and external patrols of the hospital, satellite clinics, parking lots, and grounds, reporting on security and safety hazards.
  • Maintain and operate vehicles and shuttles in a safe manner, ensuring proper working condition and cleanliness.
  • Conduct initial inquiries for administrative and potential criminal complaints and report findings.
  • Respond to all coded alarms and perform security escorts when requested.
  • Assist with evacuations in emergency situations requiring strength, stamina, and flexibility.
  • Maintain a high level of visibility to serve as a deterrent to undesirable activity and to be readily available to provide assistance.
