About The Position

The Security Officer position at Liberty Hospital is responsible for performing all security functions, including operating security equipment, responding to calls for assistance, investigating incidents, and applying appropriate physical intervention when necessary. The role requires accurate documentation, customer service, and appropriate response to facility emergency codes. Officers will be trained and competent in the use of TASERs, wearing Bodycams, and the safe control of violent individuals, including completing PPE use and IAHSS training.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate OR General Educational Development
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license, Kansas Class C or equivalent.
  • MVR results must be in compliance with Health System Safe Driving Program Policy.

  • 1 or more years of Related Experience
  • Military, Law Enforcement, or Armed Security Experience
  • Healthcare Security Experience

Responsibilities

  • Conducts internal and external patrols, inspecting for unlocked doors, burned out lights/signage, maintenance issues, issuing parking tickets, and enforcing the tobacco use policy.
  • Controls visitor access into the facility during non-visiting hours.
  • Provides transport of deceased patients and assists funeral home representatives with the release of deceased patients.
  • Pro-actively assists all persons entering the hospital through the ECC/Outpatient entrances and provides escorts as requested.
  • Provides customers with assistance as requested, such as providing directions, vehicle jump starts, or locating lost vehicles.
  • Appropriately responds to the facility's emergency codes and calls for Security assistance.
  • Exercises wise judgment in potential scenarios where "Use of Force" decisions must be made quickly.
  • Demonstrates strong competencies and policy compliance in the carry and use of TASERs and Bodycams.
  • Appropriately responds to assistance calls for combative/disorderly patients, visitors, or employees.
  • Appropriately responds to alarms at the South Park Medical Buildings #3, Distribution Centers, and the Pavilion.
  • Participates in First Responder Training.
  • Investigates all incidents of unusual circumstances reported to security by Medical Center personnel, visitors, physicians, or patients as requested.
  • Possesses knowledge and understanding of the appropriate use of all security equipment, computers, monitors, radios, pagers, telephones, and security vehicles.
  • Conducts monthly grounds inspections, monthly fire extinguisher inspections, and weekly elevator checks, completing appropriate documentation accurately.
  • Ensures that any additional required documentation is completed appropriately and accurately.
  • Performs the professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
