Security Officer — Bluffton/Hilton Head
About The Position
Coastal Security Services, Inc. (CSSI) is seeking a dependable and adaptable FLEX Security Officer to serve as a float across multiple client sites in the SC Lowcountry. This role involves rotating between healthcare facilities, upscale residential communities, and commercial properties based on operational needs. It is ideal for individuals who thrive on variety, can adapt quickly to different environments, and are reliable in filling critical coverage gaps. CSSI has been a trusted name in professional security since 2006, licensed in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, providing a range of security solutions and investing in their people through extensive in-house training.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Valid SC SLED Unarmed Security Officer Registration (or ability to obtain prior to start).
- Clean criminal background — must pass SLED background check.
- Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation (travel between sites required).
- Availability to work a rotating schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and perform foot patrols.
- High school diploma or GED.
Nice To Haves
- SC SLED Armed Security Officer Registration (greatly preferred — increases site eligibility and pay potential).
- Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
- Prior security, law enforcement, or military experience.
- Healthcare facility security experience.
- Familiarity with access control systems, CCTV, and incident reporting.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional security coverage at multiple CSSI client sites across Bluffton, Hilton Head Island, and the surrounding Lowcountry.
- Fill scheduled shifts and provide relief coverage for call-offs, PTO, and high-demand periods.
- Perform access control, patrol, visitor management, and incident response duties.
- Monitor CCTV systems and maintain accurate daily activity reports.
- Serve as a first responder for medical emergencies, safety incidents, and security threats.
- Maintain professional appearance and conduct consistent with CSSI standards.
- Communicate clearly with site supervisors, management, and dispatch.
