About The Position

The Security Officer position at Chinooks Winds is responsible for ensuring the security of customers, staff, facilities, and assets during the assigned shift. This role involves crime detection, prevention, and suppression through investigation and reporting. The officer will handle cash and chip transfers, investigate guest and employee complaints, and may need to physically subdue individuals. The position also requires maintaining knowledge of promotions and services, assisting guests with minor vehicle issues, monitoring alarm systems, and providing input for process improvements. Additional duties include transporting staff for drug tests, working in crowded environments, handling cash boxes and VLT boxes, operating casino carts, and coordinating with local emergency services. The role also involves checking IDs, performing First Aid/CPR/AED, assisting with lost property, and potentially working overtime, holidays, and special events. The officer must adhere to customer service standards and provide information about resort events and services.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 or older.

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of customer service experience preferred.
  • 6 months gaming security, security, military, or law enforcement experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Office beginner level including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Siletz Tribal Gaming License.
  • Valid Driver’s License, or ability to obtain Valid Oregon Driver’s License within 90 days of hire.
  • CPR Certified within 1 month of employment.
  • Flexibility to handle changing priorities and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor facility, property, and money handling areas to ensure the security of customers, staff, and assets.
  • Engage in crime detection, prevention, and suppression through investigation of suspicious circumstances and elimination of opportunities for crime; apprehend offenders.
  • Complete thorough investigations and detail-oriented reports regarding criminal and non-criminal incidents utilizing standard computer programs.
  • Deliver fills/credits from Cage to gaming stations and escort all chips and cash transfers.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all Chinook Winds promotions, events, and services.
  • Investigate complaints/concerns from guests/employees, analyze situations, and resolve them ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Physically subdue, restrain, and remove customers or employees when necessary.
  • Perform all duties according to Chinook Winds & the Security Departments customer service standards.
  • Assist guests with jumpstarting vehicles and changing tires.
  • Monitor and maintain general knowledge of the alarm system and report any irregularities.
  • Provide input or recommendations for improvements/changes in program processes or services.
  • Participate in other department projects as directed.
  • Transport Chinook Winds’ staff for drug tests.
  • Remove and reinstall cash boxes and use handheld scanners for up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Sort and separate VLT boxes according to type.
  • Operate a battery-powered casino cart used to transport carts containing VLT boxes.
  • Work with local police, fire and emergency medical teams as necessary.
  • Maintain and control access to restricted areas.
  • Check IDs for possible underage guests.
  • Perform First Aid, CPR and use the AED as required.
  • Assist in locating lost property and file reports for lost and found property.
  • Perform additional duties as directed or deemed necessary.
  • Occasionally work overtime, including extended shifts, additional days, holidays and special events.
  • Maintain general knowledge and provide information to guests of Chinook Winds Casino Resort events, programs and services.
  • Provide input or recommendations for improvements and changes in processes or services.
  • All other duties as assigned.
