About The Position

This position involves enforcing policies and procedures with all patients/residents, visitors, and staff, patrolling and securing facility buildings and grounds, monitoring conduct of visitors, reporting safety and security violations, and responding to requests for assistance. The role requires assisting with problem-solving, potentially escorting personnel, maintaining records, and preparing incident reports. Security officers must be able to work with all age groups, prioritize calls for service based on urgency and safety needs, and de-escalate stressful situations. Awareness of local laws affecting conduct on private property is necessary. The role demands effective communication, professional report writing, and the physical ability to perform basic security functions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • College or vocational education is preferred.
  • Prior experience healthcare security, contract security and/or law enforcement is highly preferred.
  • May require a current valid driver's license with Sanford insurability dependent upon region.
  • Basic certification by International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety preferred within one year of hire.
  • Ability to work with all age groups.
  • Communicate effectively with all customers.
  • Ability to write professional reports.
  • Demonstrate the physical ability to perform basic security officers functions as trained.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience healthcare security, contract security and/or law enforcement is highly preferred.
  • Basic certification by International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety preferred within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Enforces policies and procedures with all patients/residents, visitors and staff.
  • Patrols and secures facility buildings and grounds as assigned.
  • Monitors conduct of visitors on premises and confronts unauthorized persons for questioning.
  • Reports safety, fire hazards or security violations.
  • Responds to all requests for assistance from employees, patients/residents and visitors.
  • Assists with any and all situation; i.e., problem-solving with positive outcomes.
  • May escort personnel to and from parking areas as requested.
  • Maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities.
  • Prioritize calls for service in order of urgency based on safety needs.
  • De-escalate stressful situations as soon as possible.
  • Maintain awareness of local laws which affect the way individuals conduct themselves on private property.
