About The Position

The Security Officer provides protection of life and property by actively patrolling the campus area on foot and by vehicle. This role involves detecting and reporting violations of law and health system policy, enforcing parking regulations, and managing morgue access and related activities. The officer will also maintain lost and found items, handle valuables, issue hospital keys, respond to crisis situations, implement directives, perform report writing, and complete other assigned duties.

Requirements

Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must be able to pass a background check.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to write clear and concise reports.

Nice To Haves

Previous security or law enforcement experience.
First Aid and CPR certification.
Knowledge of security procedures and protocols.

Responsibilities

Provides protection of life and property; actively, thoroughly, and unpredictably patrols the greater campus area on foot and by vehicle.
Detects and reports violations of local, state, and federal law and violations of health system policy in a timely manner; actively monitors compliance and enforces parking control policy.
Handles morgue access and morgue related activities, including required recordkeeping and some interaction with families/next of kin, funeral homes, and the coroner’s office.
Maintains lost and found items, valuables handling and storage, and issues/collects hospital keys to/from authorized persons.
Responds to and actively participates in crisis intervention situations.
Implements directives from the Public Safety Officer and Department Manager.
Performs report writing and light clerical duties.
Completes other duties as assigned.
