About The Position

The Security Officer II is the primary responder for all safety concerns, security incidents, and service requests at facilities owned or occupied by Seattle Children's. The department's efforts focus on deterring, detecting, preventing, responding to, and documenting concerns or incidents that risk the safety and well-being of patients, families, visitors, workforce members, and property. This is achieved by utilizing appropriate protocols, emergency response procedures, and/or non-violent crisis intervention methods. Security Officers in this position respond to situations that include, but are not limited to, fire emergencies, hazardous spills, disaster response, medical emergencies, safety support, missing child incidents, active shooter situations, bomb threats, individuals under distress or escalated, and unauthorized persons on Seattle Children's property or buildings occupied by Seattle Children's workforce members with intentions to commit crimes such as vandalism, theft, and assault.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Criminal Justice or related field, OR a combination of 3 years' experience in Security Services or related field.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification within 90 days of hire (Annual Requirement).
  • Completion of NCI Autism Training within 12 months of hire.
  • Completion of Seattle Children’s Safe Firearms Training within 12 months of hire.
  • Completion of Car Seat Safety Training within 12 months of hire if required for position/role.
  • Score of 80% or above on Seattle Children's Security Competency Exam in assigned area of the Security Department (Service Call, Emergency Department, Entrance, Surge, and Research) within 12 months.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License with a driving record acceptable to Risk Management.
  • Completion of Wheelchair vehicle Training.
  • International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Certification.
  • Safety Cares Certification within 90 days of hire if required for location.
