About The Position

As our Security Officer, you will help the healthcare enterprise remain a safe place. You will maintain a safe and secure environment for medical staff/employees, patients, and visitors by patrolling the premises and visitor management and observing and reporting activities and incidents at an assigned site. Our officer will preserve order and act to enforce regulations when assistance is requested by medical staff and employees and responding rapidly to security emergencies within the hospital or other healthcare settings. It is expected that the security officer will demonstrate behavior consistent with CommonSpirit Health core value and humandkindness. The security officer shall support CommonSpirit Health's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality improvement/process improvement activities. Every day you will ensure a safe and secure environment for medical staff, employees, patients and visitors within the hospital or healthcare setting. To be successful in this role, you must have proactive security measures, strong interpersonal skills, keen observation and adherence to protocols.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Six (6) months experience as a security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service; or one (1) year experience as a security officer
  • American Heart Association-issued Basic Life Support (BLS) card within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Arizona State Driver's License with satisfactory DMV report
  • International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Training for Healthcare Security Officer
  • Basic Health Care Security Officer (BSO)
  • One (1) year experience as a Security Guard in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service.
  • Completion of college level education courses in criminal justice

Responsibilities

  • Protecting staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner to incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, opening doors, and responding to emergency codes
  • Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle, monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed and report unsafe acts or conditions
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, supplies, reports HIPPA breaches if witnessed, investigate security breaches, conduct follow-up investigations, and write incident reports
  • Log all activities in a daily log to accurately record events and complete clear, concise, and legible reports in a timely manner, use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing the hospital campus to ensure that dispatches are to the right location
