As a Security Officer - Public Educational Facility, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas at a prominent public cultural location, maintaining a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents. You will conduct routine patrols, support access control activities, assist visitors and staff with professionalism, and communicate clearly while using computer or tablet-based tools. Requirements

  • Possess a valid New York State Security Guard License.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and patrons by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents, policy concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout library spaces, entrances, exits, and surrounding perimeter areas to help identify and report unusual activity or maintenance concerns.
  • Assist with access control, visitor direction, and monitoring of public areas while supporting a welcoming environment for patrons and staff.
  • Document incidents, observations, and daily activities in accordance with site procedures and Allied Universal reporting requirements.
