About The Position

The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, contractors, and company assets. This role performs routine security duties, including access control, patrols, monitoring of security systems, and responding to incidents. The Security Officer operates under the direction of the Security Shift Supervisor and supports the execution of site security procedures and emergency response protocols.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field from an accredited institution (or substitution of 5 years of professional work-related experience in the law enforcement/security management and/or military security/police career fields).
  • 3 years’ experience in law enforcement, military security or police, corporate security management and work experience in a broad range of security areas including protection of personnel, risk assessment methodology, physical security, and investigations.
  • Law enforcement experience required.
  • Experience using computer systems and software programs - i.e., PowerPoint, MS Word, Excel, and MS Outlook.
  • Exceptional customer service/relationship skills.
  • HR-218/LEOSA with current Annual Firearm Qualification required.
  • Excellent customer interaction skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Exhibits a strong work ethic and accountability.
  • High level of trust and integrity needed; ability to manage high-level, sensitive matters requiring sound judgment and discretion.
  • Consistently exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance and in the absence of the company’s Security Supervisor.
  • Proven leadership/management skills to manage a Team of security professionals.
  • Willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Schedule flexibility, with the ability to be on call 24X7 when needed.
  • Proven ability to work independently and be able to follow escalation procedures as outlined in terms of standards regarding critical or emergencies.

  • Communication and contacts within government, law enforcement, and industry trade groups preferred.
  • Able to work effectively with customers, suppliers, and contractors to ensure effective security throughout the value chain.
  • A proven team player, yet able to lead as well as work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control access through badge systems and visitor management processes.
  • Conduct routine interior and exterior patrols of buildings and grounds.
  • Monitor CCTV, alarm systems, and security equipment.
  • Respond to alarms and incidents and notify the Shift Supervisor.
  • Document incidents and activities in accurate reports.
  • Assist with emergency response situations, including evacuations and medical incidents.
  • Enforce company policies, procedures and post orders.
  • Maintain a visible security presence to deter unauthorized activity.
  • Provide customer service to employees and visitors.
  • Report hazards, risks, and vulnerabilities.
