About The Position

Christian Health is seeking a part-time Security Officer to join their Risk Management & Safety department. This role is responsible for protecting the life and property of all individuals on Christian Health properties. The Security Officer will patrol buildings and grounds to prevent incidents, conduct continuous surveillance, and document all occurrences. Sensitivity to the need for quality service and assistance to visitors is essential. The position involves securing and protecting Christian Health buildings, with assignments to the main campus and all Christian Health properties. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Christian Health mission statement.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • One year of experience in the field of security management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Crisis De-escalation techniques through regular attendance of required in-service training.
  • Criminal justice background with traffic control experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce on-campus parking regulations (fire zones, handicap parking, visitor parking, fleet parking, non-parking areas).
  • Patrol buildings and grounds, inspecting doors, windows, and locks for security.
  • Conduct continuous patrols throughout Christian Health properties to observe and address security and safety violations affecting patients, residents, visitors, and employees.
  • Provide escorts to employees and visitors to and from vehicles and parking areas.
  • Patrol parking areas to detect irregularities.
  • Inspect outgoing parcels as necessary to prevent theft of Christian Health property.
  • Provide a visible deterrence to crime and prohibited activities by patrolling buildings and grounds.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to emergent and non-emergent situations.
  • Report all safety and fire hazards observed during routine patrols and inspections to the Director of Safety & Security or designee.
  • Monitor Christian Health using electronic security equipment (closed-circuit television, alarms, etc.).
  • Report and receive instructions and updates from the Director of Safety & Security or Risk Manager, and when necessary, the on-duty maintenance staff member or evening shift supervisor.
  • Write accurate, clear, and legible incident reports, documenting investigatory steps and results.
  • Investigate incidents of unusual circumstances reported by Christian Health personnel, visitors, physicians, patients, or residents, and report/document all incidents verbally or through the incident reporting system (LawSoft) by the end of each shift.
  • Assist motorists who become stranded on Christian Health property.
  • Ensure only authorized personnel are admitted to Christian Health premises.
  • Communicate daily (Monday - Friday) with the Director of Safety & Security or designee, and as needed, the on-duty maintenance staff member or evening shift supervisor regarding any unusual situations.
  • Provide a visible presence of Security in Ramapo Ridge, the Security Office, and all other high-risk areas as assigned.
  • Respond to all emergency calls for assistance to control disorderly conduct or combative patients, visitors, and residents.
  • Assist and provide courteous responses to any inquiries made by patients, visitors, residents, or personnel.
  • Respond to all emergency situation codes.
  • Enforce all Christian Health policies and procedures as assigned by Administration, the Risk Manager, and the Director of Safety & Security.
  • Work with the Director of Safety & Security to report any safety concerns observed during security rounds.
  • Orient new Security personnel to their position and assigned responsibilities.
  • Assist all Police Departments and other Emergency Services on campus.
  • Serve as the primary responder to all emergencies reported on the Main Campus.
  • Assist visitors and vendors with directions.
  • Help ensure visitors and vendors have signed in and wear appropriate badges.
  • Assist with Fire and Emergency drills as directed by the Director of Safety & Security.
  • Complete all in-service training, lectures, and programs as assigned.
  • Attend all mandatory Security meetings (departmental or special).
  • Perform duties as assigned by Security Management and carry out emergency duties when necessary.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
