About The Position

St. Croix Health is looking for a Casual Security Officer to join their team. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff by patrolling and monitoring the healthcare center campus and exterior grounds. The role involves providing a physical, on-site uniformed security presence, primarily to the Emergency Department but also to all areas of the healthcare center campus and exterior grounds. Responsibilities include assisting departments with patient care, aiding Emergency Department staff and law enforcement, assisting with patient transports, and providing customer service to visitors. The Security Officer will also manage facility security, respond to alarms, secure the helicopter landing pad, investigate disturbances, and maintain building security. Additionally, the role may involve working the Hospital Switchboard, inspecting and adjusting security systems, recording and investigating security incidents, and conducting staff training for facility evacuation, HazMat, and decontamination. Management reserves the right to modify duties as necessary.

Requirements

High school diploma required
Current BLS Certification (must be issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross for Providers)
Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgement
Ability to work closely with other staff in a professional manner
Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal directives
Thorough understanding of hospital procedures, emergency systems and equipment
Observation skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Nice To Haves

One year of prior experience in customer service or healthcare field is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provides security presence on Healthcare Center Campus and exterior grounds
Provides physical on-site uniformed security presence primarily to the Emergency Department (ED), but also to all areas of the healthcare center campus and exterior grounds
Conducts rounding of the healthcare center and exterior grounds
Assists departments with delivering great patient care
Assist Emergency Department staff and law enforcement as needed. This can include monitoring or securing patients brought for treatment or other medical needs
Assist with patient transports within the healthcare center campus, restraining or controlling patients as directed, transporting biological samples to lab when requested
Assist visitors with unlocking vehicles, assist patients and guests into or out of vehicles, provide wheelchairs when needed and any other customer service need
Assist ambulance crews with loading and unloading patients and securing patients and other medical properties
Manage facility security
Respond to fire and other emergency alarms and calls
Secures the helicopter landing pad or zone
Answers alarms and investigates disturbances
Rounding of healthcare campus premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows and gates
Work as Hospital Switchboard during specified hours of the day
Maintains building security management
Inspect and adjust security systems, equipment, or machinery to ensure operational use and to detect evidence of tampering
Records and investigates security-related incidents and works closely with local public safety agencies for incidents requiring law enforcement involvement.
Conduct staff training for various departments
Assists with staff training and exercises for facility evacuation, HazMat, and decontamination
Performs additional duties as assigned
