About The Position

This role is responsible for patrolling buildings and clinics, locking and unlocking doors, providing escorts, identifying and removing unauthorized individuals, maintaining compliance with policies, pursuing and detaining individuals involved in criminal activity, filling out incident reports, interacting with emergency personnel and the public, providing security for mobile health teams, conducting safety and security training, conducting building risk assessments, monitoring building openings and closings, testing alarms and lockdown systems, providing an onsite uniformed presence for imminent threats, and conducting random weapon screening. The role also involves completing reports, providing customer service, responding to calls for service and emergency situations, assessing situations, utilizing de-escalation measures, critical thinking, applying appropriate force, activating emergency response codes, and assisting emergency staff.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
DL - Drivers License Class C and insurable Upon Hire Req
ACPI - Advanced Crisis Prevention Intervention Training maintained annually 30 Days Req
NCSO - Non-Commissioned Security Officer Texas Private Security Level 2 (not required if have Level 3) 120 Days Req
CSO - Commissioned Security Officer Texas Private Security Level 3 (2 attempts permitted). Biannual recertification. 120 Days Req
TASER Certification Complete Course & Certification (2 attempts permitted). Annual recertification. 120 Days Req
Ability to make independent decisions with tact and mature/positive attitude.
Ability to assume responsibilities.
Ability to be cooperative, discreet and courteous within scope of assigned authority.
Must possess the ability to physically defend and/or restrain people.
Must successfully complete a psychological evaluation.

Nice To Haves

Associate's Degree Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Security or closely related field Preferred.
2 Years of security, law enforcement, or military police Preferred
2 Years of healthcare or education Preferred.

Responsibilities

Patrol buildings and clinics for unlocked secured areas for after-hour entry.
Locks and opens doors according to schedules.
Provides individual and group escorts to and from parking areas.
Identifies and removes unauthorized individuals from property.
Maintains compliance with Texas Health Police policies.
Pursues and detains persons involved in criminal activity.
Fills out incident/offense report forms and composes narratives.
Interacts with police, fire personnel, patients, visitors, and staff.
Provides security for mobile health teams during community events.
Conducts safety and security training for staff.
Conducts building risk assessments.
Randomly monitors building openings and closings to ensure safety protocols are being adhered to.
Performs monthly tests of building duress alarms and lockdown systems.
Provides onsite uniformed presence, as needed, for buildings experiencing imminent threats.
Conducts random weapon screening.
Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences and surveillance activities.
Reports and escalates situations to the Threat Management team as appropriate.
Provides quality customer service to Texas Health employees, visitors, and guest.
Greets people with courtesy and respect using the 10/5 rule.
Provides directions and assistance employees, visitors and guests.
Provide general information regarding Texas Health campuses.
Provides transport/and escorts to and from campus parking lots.
Responds timely to calls for service and emergency situations.
Assesses the situation and utilizes appropriate de-escalation measures.
Utilizes critical thinking skills and provides the appropriate level of force for the situation.
Responds to and activates the appropriate emergency response code.
Interacts with and provides assistance to Police, Fire, EMS and other emergency staff as required.
