About The Position

Aqualitas Inc. is seeking an experienced Security Officer for its Brooklyn, NS facility. The role involves ensuring physical security measures comply with Cannabis Regulations through visual monitoring and proactive patrols. The Security Officer will monitor video surveillance, access control, and intrusion detection systems, and report violations of safety and security procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible to apply for and be granted a valid Canadian Security Clearance by Health Canada
  • Knowledge of the Cannabis Act and Regulations
  • Knowledge of related municipal, provincial and federal law
  • Proven experience in a Security-related capacity in a regulated environment
  • 2 – 5 years experience in a law and security enforcement role
  • First Aid/CPR certified
  • Proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook and Excel)
  • Experience conducting investigations and writing reports
  • Ability to act independently and also work cohesively as a team member
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, including thorough monitoring and documentation abilities
  • Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility and the ability to prioritize activities and adjust priorities on short notice
  • Excellent comprehension, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Keen problem solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality

Nice To Haves

  • A diploma in a related field is considered an asset
  • Security professional designation is considered an asset
  • Experience/responsibility for large integrated electronic security program and familiarity with concepts of electronic security applications such as CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion Detection and Emergency Communication Systems is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of GMP and GPP is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Report and respond to scenarios that could compromise an employee’s security clearance or the organization’s security
  • Maintain proper protocols for staff, guest, vendor, and contractor arrival and entry to the facility, including procedures for breaches
  • Oversee proper access control and intrusion detection protocols for staff, guest, vendor, and contractors to areas where cannabis is present including vault/storage areas and deliveries/pick-up
  • Maintain appropriate records of entry and exit to restricted and storage areas
  • Maintain physical security through the monitoring, storage and retrieval of video-monitoring footage
  • Report security concerns, incidents or breaches by employees or any other person on site
  • Oversee procedures for the protection of client information
  • Implement contingency plans for record keeping system failures
  • Oversee security measures to ensure the safekeeping of cannabis when being shipped, delivered and/or transported
  • Implement procedures for validating that cannabis entering the facility is from a legal source
  • Implement response procedures should cannabis be found to enter or leave the facility in an unauthorized manner
  • Adhere to all Policies, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, Good Production Practices (GPP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
