About The Position

The Thomas Jefferson Foundation, which owns and operates Monticello, a world-renowned historic attraction, is seeking a Full-Time Security Officer. This position will provide safety and security services for Foundation properties, personnel, and upwards of 300,000 guests per year. Officers provide the safety and security backbone for the historic plantation of Thomas Jefferson, third president and the primary author of the Declaration of Independence. All Monticello staff members are committed to an inclusive work culture and conveying an honest and inclusive history of Monticello. This is considered an essential role and will be required to report for duty and conduct foot and vehicle patrols during emergency and inclement weather situations. This is an Evening (2nd Shift) with a shift differential.

Requirements

Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Proven history of dependability and punctuality.
Possess a valid Virginia driver's license.
Able to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds.
Able to climb stairs, bend and squat.
Able to work in restricted/small spaces.
Criminal background check is required.

Nice To Haves

Willingness to become DCJS (armed) certified in the future.
General understanding of security processes and/or law enforcement.

Responsibilities
