About The Position

This position is responsible for controlling personnel access, patrolling property and facilities, preventing theft or damage, responding to disturbances, performing emergency traffic duties, preparing reports, maintaining certifications, and assisting in investigations. The role requires adherence to Navajo/Indian Preference in Employment Policy.

Requirements

  • Applicant must have a valid, unrestricted insurable driver’s license.
  • Resumes and references are required.
  • Two (2) years’ work-related experience in Security, Criminal Justice, Military experience, Emergency Response or an Associate’s Degree or higher in Criminal Justice or related field.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency (HSE).
  • Must complete daily activity reports and incident reports by the end of shift.
  • Must maintain all required certifications and participate in mandatory security training.
  • Required to successfully pass all AVADE Certifications: Healthcare Defensive Tactics System (HDTS), Handcuffing Tactics Defensive Baton, Pepper Spray Defense, and De-escalation within 30 days of hire.
  • Must successfully pass annual recertification.
  • Keeps issued uniforms clean, pressed, and polished.
  • Keeps all issued equipment in good working condition.
  • Participates in random and routine uniform and equipment inspections.
  • Ensures Security vehicles are maintained, cleaned, report all maintenance and damages in a timely manner.
  • Conduct vehicle inspects with designee before utilizing vehicle.
  • Effectively communicate via handheld radios.
  • All radio communication must be conducted in a professional manner using proper etiquette.
  • Must be able to take guidance and direction from all Security Supervisors, Senior Security Officers, Security Dispatcher or designee.
  • Must be an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation for primary preference or a member of other federally recognized Indian tribes for secondary preference.

Responsibilities

  • Controls personnel access by monitoring the identification of individuals entering controlled areas.
  • Patrols FDIHB property and facilities by vehicle or foot to check alarms, locks, fences, gates, or other barriers.
  • Patrols FDIHB property and facilities to detect faulty fences, detection equipment and potential trespassing violations.
  • Patrols FDIHB property and facilities to prevent theft or damage to hospital property, equipment, tools, supplies, and other real or personal property.
  • Pursues and detains persons fleeing a disturbance/incident or attempting to resist detainment.
  • Performs duties involving passing of directions and information to law enforcement, coordinating emergency responses, and receiving and acting on calls concerning reports of violations or complaints.
  • Performs emergency traffic duties when required, such as enforcing speed limits, directing traffic and controlling the movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
  • Prepares various legible written reports, including encounters with individuals, unsafe conditions, accident reports, and other descriptive event reports.
  • Completes daily activity reports and incident reports by the end of shift.
  • Maintains all required certifications and participates in mandatory security training.
  • Successfully passes all AVADE Certifications: Healthcare Defensive Tactics System (HDTS), Handcuffing Tactics Defensive Baton, Pepper Spray Defense, and De-escalation within 30 days of hire, and successfully passes annual recertification.
  • Keeps issued uniforms clean, pressed, and polished, and all issued equipment in good working condition.
  • Performs morgue duties and assists in the transference of the deceased to the FDIHB morgue.
  • Ensures Security vehicles are maintained, cleaned, and reports all maintenance and damages in a timely manner.
  • Conducts vehicle inspects with designee before utilizing vehicle.
  • Effectively communicates via handheld radios using professional manner and proper etiquette.
  • Takes guidance and direction from all Security Supervisors, Senior Security Officers, Security Dispatcher or designee.
  • Assists in conducting investigations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
