About The Position

You'll be the friendly, watchful presence that makes everyone feel secure-plus you'll be the one to lock up and keep things running smoothly at the end of each day. You will be accountable for inflow/outflow of traffic, video surveillance, and will also be capable of detecting any strange occurrences that appear to be suspicious or illegal. The hours for this position are Monday through Friday 1:00 pm-6:00 pm. You will be responsible for closing the building each day. No weekend hours. The wearing of a uniform is expected.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Reliable and punctual; you show up for when scheduled, every time.
  • Strong communication skills (written & spoken)
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) to create reports.
  • Knowledge of basic security operations and procedures.

  • Candidates must pass an extensive background check, credit, criminal and drug screen; in addition, all candidates must be willing to adhere to a metal-free dress code policy and no cell phones.

Nice To Haves

  • Ideally 3–5 years of security experience and a Virginia security license (a plus, not a must).

Responsibilities

  • Secure premises and personnel by controlling and monitoring surveillance equipment for anything unusual, potentially threatening, and/ or suspicious activity
  • Be visible and observant at all times, greet staff and visitors in a courteous and attentive manner while monitoring and controlling door access for co-workers, guests, vendors, etc.
  • Maintain the company's reputation with professionalism and legal compliance including informing violators of established policy and procedures.
  • Document any damages, theft, injuries, and/ or other irregular activity.
  • At the direction of the Safety and Security Manager, investigate and take appropriate lawful action as authorized by corporate policy on accidents, incidents, trespassing, suspicious activity, safety, and fire incidents.
  • Respond immediately to distress calls, panic alarms, and emergency calls for disorderly conduct, disruptive persons, and incidents swiftly and appropriately.
  • Participates in and is trained to present all safety training.
  • Understands SDS sheets, wears PPE where appropriate.
  • Secures metals at all times.
  • Receive and log all incoming packages on the incoming package log spreadsheet and ensure that packages are picked up by the department in which they belong.
  • Understands established policies and procedures by consistently adhering to them.
  • Wears metal free clothing, shows badge, always clocks in/out.
  • Knows and follows the security rules.
  • Badge is available and visible every day.
  • Understands metal flow and metal security procedures and follows established practices.
  • Maintains high ethics.
  • Is respectful and honest.
  • Other duties as assigned.
