About The Position

The Security Officer provides protection of life and property by actively patrolling the campus area on foot and by vehicle. This role involves detecting and reporting violations of law and health system policy, enforcing parking control, and handling sensitive tasks such as morgue access and recordkeeping. The officer will also manage lost and found items, hospital keys, and respond to crisis intervention situations. Additionally, the role includes implementing directives from management, performing report writing, and other assigned duties.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Valid driver's license
Ability to pass a background check
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Excellent observational skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations
Basic computer proficiency for report writing

Nice To Haves

Previous security or law enforcement experience
First Aid and CPR certification
Experience with security systems and equipment

Responsibilities

Provides protection of life and property; actively, thoroughly, and unpredictably patrols the greater campus area on foot and by vehicle.
Detects and reports violations of local, state, and federal law and violations of health system policy in a timely manner; actively monitors compliance and enforces parking control policy.
Handles morgue access and morgue related activities, including required recordkeeping and some interaction with families/next of kin, funeral homes, and the coroner’s office.
Maintains lost and found items, valuables handling and storage, and issues/collects hospital keys to/from authorized persons.
Responds to and actively participates in crisis intervention situations.
Implements directives from the Public Safety Officer and Department Manager.
Performs report writing and light clerical duties.
Completes other duties as assigned.
