About The Position

Securitas is hiring for multiple Part-Time AND Full-Time Security Officers to keep client sites safe in Greater Burlington, Vermont. The starting pay is $20.00+/hr, varying by site. Available schedules include overnight shifts in Burlington and Burlington Waterfront, with options for full-time hours by working at multiple sites up to 40 hours per week. No prior security experience is required, and growth opportunities are available. Strong customer service skills are essential. Security Officers are responsible for safeguarding people, property, and assets by monitoring premises for suspicious activity, enforcing rules, providing a visible security presence, and responding to incidents. This role is suitable for individuals starting their careers or those in retirement.

Requirements

At least 18 years of age.
Reliable means of communication.
MUST have a valid Driver's License, a clean driving record, AND reliable transportation to get to and from the work site(s).
Legal right to work in the United States.
Ability to effectively speak, read and write English.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
MUST be able to obtain a Vermont Guard Card (Security Guard license) after being hired!

Responsibilities

Monitor security cameras and patrol assigned premises to detect any suspicious activity, unauthorized access, or safety hazards.
Enforce access control policies, such as checking identification, issuing visitor passes, and restricting access to authorized personnel only.
Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, or security incidents, including medical emergencies, fire hazards, or criminal activity. Report or escalate incidents to law enforcement as needed.
Document and report incidents, suspicious activity, breaches of security, or safety concerns in clear, accurate, and detailed reports for further action or investigation.
Conduct foot or vehicle patrols to ensure that all areas, including entrances, parking lots, and perimeters, are secure. Check for doors, windows, or gates that may be unlocked or tampered with.
Greet and assist visitors or employees, providing directions and answering inquiries while maintaining a professional and approachable demeanor.
Inspect the premises for safety hazards, fire risks, or any conditions that could compromise the safety of individuals or property.
Handle minor disputes or disturbances, using conflict resolution skills to maintain a calm and safe environment.
Work closely with other security staff, law enforcement, or emergency responders to coordinate security efforts and respond to incidents as needed.
