This position enforces policies and procedures with all patients/residents, visitors and staff. The Security Officer patrols and secures facility buildings and grounds as assigned. The role involves monitoring the conduct of visitors on premises and confronting unauthorized persons for questioning. The officer will report safety, fire hazards or security violations and respond to all requests for assistance from employees, patients/residents and visitors. This role assists with problem-solving to achieve positive outcomes and may escort personnel to and from parking areas as requested. The Security Officer maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities. The position requires the ability to work with all age groups and prioritize calls for service based on urgency and safety needs. Security officers are expected to work in highly stressful situations and de-escalate them as soon as possible. All security officers are required to maintain awareness of local laws which affect the way individuals conduct themselves on private property. The necessary skills involve communicating effectively with all customers, writing professional reports, and demonstrating the physical ability to perform basic security officer functions as trained. This position may have access to areas where medications are stored in order to perform their specific job related functions.
