As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and support access control. You will provide compassionate customer service and clear communication to residents, visitors, and staff while documenting security-related activity. Requirements

  • Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.
  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout the shelter location, including common areas, entrances, exits, and perimeter areas, and report unusual conditions or maintenance concerns.
  • Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, respectful, problem-solving manner while following established reporting and escalation procedures.
  • Monitor access points and visitor activity, maintain awareness of authorized entry requirements, and help to deter unauthorized access or prohibited activity.
  • Prepare clear, accurate activity logs and incident reports, and communicate relevant information to site management and Allied Universal leadership.
