About The Position

The Security Officer reports to the Director of Security. Under general supervision, the Security Officer monitors and provides protection and security for facilities, premises, employees, patients and visitors. This position responds to security calls within the medical center and conducts basic investigations as well as troubleshooting of the electronic visitor management system.

Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of relevant experience (Security, Law Enforcement, Fire Service, Emergency Medical Service, Behavioral Health, Counselor, Education, or Military).
  • Must obtain and be able to maintain the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety certification (IAHSS) within the first year of employment.
  • Must have a valid South Carolina Driver’s License.
  • Ability to perform job functions while standing.
  • Ability to perform job functions while sitting.
  • Ability to perform job functions while walking.
  • Ability to work indoors.
  • Ability to perform gross motor activities with fingers and hands.
  • Ability to perform firm grasping with fingers and hands.
  • Ability to perform fine manipulation with fingers and hands.

  • Ability to maintain vision 20/40 corrected.
  • Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance.
  • Ability to match or discriminate between colors.
  • Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
  • Good peripheral vision capabilities.
  • Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
  • Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations.
  • Ability to work in a latex safe environment.
  • Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions.
  • Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of methods of security in buildings and grounds institution is preferred.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or other relevant certifications may be substituted for the required work experience.

Responsibilities
