About The Position

As a Security Officer Transitional Housing Access Control in Brooklyn, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and support access control activities. You will provide professional customer service and clear communication while helping create a welcoming, secure environment for residents, visitors, and staff. Requirements

  • At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • A state, county, or city-issued security license is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and/or service providers by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures and policies at a shelter setting.
  • Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established emergency response protocols when appropriate.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of interior areas, exterior grounds, entrances, exits, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
  • Monitor access points, observe visitor activity, and maintain awareness of individuals entering and leaving the location in accordance with site procedures.
  • Document observations, incidents, and security-related activities accurately and promptly, and communicate relevant information to supervisors and/or onsite personnel.
