About The Position

As a Security Officer Shelter Patrol in Brooklyn, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, you will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and support a welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within a shelter setting.
  • Respond to incidents, resident concerns, conflicts, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout the facility, entrances, common areas, and perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
  • Monitor access points, verify authorized entry as directed by site policy, and maintain awareness of visitor, resident, and staff activity.
  • Complete detailed activity reports, incident documentation, and shift handoffs in accordance with Allied Universal and site-specific requirements.
