About The Position

As a Security Officer Screening in Portage, MI, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. Join a leading team where flexibility meets opportunity. As a Part-Time Security Officer, you can build a schedule that works for you and explore new roles using our Claim a Shift platform. At a busy logistics and distribution location, you will help screen employees, visitors, and/or deliveries, monitor assigned areas, and conduct routine patrols to help identify and report security-related concerns. This role offers the chance to stay visible, provide outstanding customer service, and support daily operations while reflecting Allied Universal values through teamwork, integrity, reliability, and a people-first approach.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
  • CPR certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to employees, visitors, and/or drivers by carrying out site-specific screening procedures, access protocols, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a logistics and distribution location.
  • Screen individuals, personal property, packages, and/or vehicles entering or leaving designated areas in accordance with post orders and site guidelines, and report unusual activity or policy concerns.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting details and communicating with site contacts and/or Allied Universal leadership as needed.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, verify credentials, and help to deter unauthorized access, prohibited items, and/or policy violations through consistent screening and observation practices.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around assigned areas and the perimeter as required, noting security-related concerns, operational issues, and/or conditions that may need follow-up.
